Battle Maidens

A group of dhampir war leaders, the most feared warriors of the Aristocracy. Each Maiden serves a single lord, either a leader in the Church? or among the Landblooded. When the Nobles enter all-out war (together or against each other), their forces are typically led by a Battle Maiden. In peacetime, Maidens and the standing portions of their armies are permitted to live on unused estates of their masters.

There's no formal way to become a Battle Maiden, though there's a fair amount of ceremonial rigamarole once you've been chosen. Typically, Maidens are illegitimate children of powerful leaders within the Aristocracy. In recent centuries, they have been primarily children of Church leaders.

Our heroes have met two Maidens as of Episode Five.

The Silver Maiden was the daughter of Archbishop Thule, and died protecting his castle. (See Three.)
