Sandalphon

Angel of the First House, formerly the Throne of Woven Prayers. Presently the Dominion of Dreams Devoured.

Back when he was working for Most High, Sandalphon wove human prayers into a garland to place upon God's brow. To him, that was kinda like being the waiter in a fancy restaurant and never getting to taste the cheesecake. Sandalphon was jealous of God.

He wanted humanity's love for himself. He proved himself over and over. He killed angels for them. One of the architects of the Vejovis Assault, he suggested wielding the faith of worshipping humans against the archangel.

And yet, the little bastards thanked God. Or Lucifer.

In the Abyss, Sandalphon figured out he was set up. The war was a two man grift, with God and Lucifer playing... well, God and Devil.

Sandalphon's heard that Gabriel gives each human being a secret at the moment of their birth, and after a little... soul-searching, he's discovered it's true. Each time he drains away the dreams of a human being, he learns one more truth about Creation. One of these days, he's sure, one of them is going to tell him where God and Lucifer are hiding.

According to Labazar, Sandalphon's name pops up a lot in demonological texts, indicating that he's been summoned a number of times over the years.

In his identity as Simon Holmes, Sandalphon has partnered with a number of major Chicago real estate firms, and has become not only a leader in the city's revitalization projects, but one of its most generous and visible charity donors.

So far, Sandalphon hasn't treated Xariel as an outright threat. He believes Xariel's quest for justice is merely a leftover from Max, and that the Slayer will come around eventually.
