CitySewers

City Sewers

The City is always hungry. The surrounding countryside sacrifices its life to fill the City's ravenous maw. The outflux of its hunger ends here, in a network of ditches, pipes, and canals leading eventually to the river, and thence away. Trade and wealth let the City grow; its sewer system lets it survive, washing away the filth. The poor empty their pots directly into the ditches, the wealthiest have plumbing in their homes.

Hooks

Criminals dump bodies in the canals to be taken away. Sometimes items of value are lost in the sewers and must be found. The sewer network probably leads into all the temples, palaces, and great buildings of the City.

Complications

Criminal Gang (mooks 1/10), swarm of rats (mooks 1/5), Finding your way through big enough pipes without getting lost (challenge 15).

Color

Carcasses of animals float by, the stench is overwhelming, small pipes drip their contents into the flow, the canals and ditches have bridges over them, strange grunts and screeches echo through the pipes, swimming through a river of filth to succeed at your mission.
