Wushu Mecha

Mecha have a special appeal. The are tools used by characters in a story and at the same time characters in of themselves. Hop into the cockpit of a giant robot and you are suddenly a bigger stronger person. More interestingly a Mech can be piloted by difrent people. Put an Ace pilot in a Cannon fodder Machine and suddenly it becomes a force to be reconed with.

Mecha

Mecha are created similar to charicters with there own Chi, Die Pool*,one or more traits, and a flaw. Eg,

  • CX-1 Centurian (Rapid Response combat mecha 5m, Experimental Beam weapons 4m, Unstable prototype 1, chi 5m, Die Pool 6)

When piloting a giant robot you use the Mech’s traits and the Mech’s Die Pool rather than you own. Hits agains you similarly go against the Mech’s Chi rather than your own. When the Mech’s Chi is expended, the Mech is destroyed/dissabled and the Pilot ejects, If any Ying sucesses are left over from destroying the Mech, They spill over to the Pilot. If the Pilot is still alive after this they may continue the battle on foot.

Synchronization

While anyone can press buttons and pull levers. It takes great skill to truly become one with your machine. A character Might have a Mech with the same trait as him. When Piloting that mech and using that trait, the player may use the highter trait number and combine bolth his and the Mech’s die pool. This is a very powerfull ability that represents a charicter with a custom mech designed specificly to match the Pilot’s fighting style.

An example,

  • Sr Zavange, Mecha pilot (Defender of justice 5, Sword that cleaves evil 4, Knight 3, Code of honor 1, Chi 4, Die cap 6)
  • Edge Breaker, Sr Zavange’s personal mech (Sword that cleaves evil 5, Metal Knight 4, No ranged weapons 1, Chi 5, Die cap6)

In normal combat Sr Zavange would only be able to use his normal dice pool of 6 but in Edge Breaker he gets to use a combined dice pool of 12 as long as he combines his sword techniques with his machines power.

Using Mecha rules to represent non Mecha.

These Rules can also be used to represent A sorceror summoning a guardian beast, or a super hero transforming into its alter ego. It can also represent other vehicles such as cars or spaceships.
