Good & Evil, Incorporated

TheRoofways

The Roofways

The City is a twisting labyrinth of the old and new- temples, palaces, slums, and hives...all intermingle, all blend. From the street the City is chaos, but there is another route natural of thieves and alley cats and assassins and others up to no good: the Roofways. Across tiles and lead and crumbing brick. Across the beaten gold of temple roofs and the sagging plaster of decaying tenements, the high roads of the Roofways mingle with the City's smoky breath, and when the fogs roll in off the river, the towers and buildings seem to rise up out of a moonlit sea of milk.

Hooks

  • A Gang has decided to claim the Roofways as its territory, abandoning the streets below. They charge a toll to those crossing their roofs, and the local thieves are not happy about this interruption in their preferred mode of travel...
  • In the City's dark corners, rumors are spreading... thieves fail to return from their nightly forays. Assassins don't arrive. Even the cats are keeping to the alleys for a change. And the ravens have fled the City, even the slaughterhouse district. Something is lofting over the City on silent wings, and the doughty travelers of the Roofways have become its favorite prey...
  • The Magistrate's favorite concubine has escaped - Shesbeth is said to dance so seductively that a eunuch priest would sell his soul to lie with her. Across the nighttime rooftops, she flees the magistrate's men - did you steal her away, only to be separated? Or are you seeking the reward the magistrate is sure to offer for her capture?
  • Arrows shatter around you, breaking on the tiles, as you flee the hateful killers of the Red Sliver Society. Across the moonlit roofs, you flee and flee madly, for the Red Slivers are merciless and terrible to those they capture.
