- It is said that in the heart of the tower, past guards both human and inhuman, in a room hazy with a thousand scents of sorcerous defenses, lies the the Serpent's Eye, a ruby as large as your head! For such a gem, kings would trade kingdoms! You might have your own love of gems for their own sake, but you'd rather live in luxury for a hundred years on the sale and die in bed of concubine-induced complications. Don't get too far ahead of yourself, though... For some reason, things never seem to work out so smoothly for you in practice.
- The city is generations old, it is true, but the cult of the Serpent God was ancient when it's foundations were still only dreams in the eyes of opium-addled masons. Now, many temples rise in religious quarter, but none so high as the Tower of Shifting Scales, and no cult can make it's will felt as strongly. Initiates secretly rise to positions of influence, and in their ceremonies and cell meetings, they even declare themselves the Hidden Masters of the city! Now they dare even to take Princess Lauriel for a sacrifice in their rites! The King, unsurprisingly, wishes this matter to be dealt with swiftly and with a certain... finality. Enter the tower and rescue his daughter, and leave a lesson writ in blood for all to see: Perhaps some may rise to heights greater than royalty, but the hold is scant and precarious, and the fall harsh indeed. Have a care while you wreak your monarch's terrible vengeance, for the Cult is renowned for it's cobra-like ability to fascinate and control the weak-minded, and mayhap the princess will not be in a hurry to be rescued.
- Su'Altu has risen high in the world since last you saw him. Now he is High Priest Su'Altu, master of the Tower, Keeper of the Secrets of the Forked Tongue, and a thousand other titles besides. To you, however, he will never be anything more than the murderer of your family. Except tonight, when he will also be dead!
